It may be effective to raise superelevation in accordance with execution of the track
rehabilitation work by studying speed conditions for each curve.
(Flat land area: Approx. 30 km, Mountainous area: Approx. 45 km)
(4) Increase of transition curve length
Increase the length of curves whose transition curve length is insufficient. The following are the guide values for desirable length.
R <= 400
m...600 times longer than actual superelevation
R<= 600 m...800 times longer than actual
superelevation
R > 600 m...1,000 times longer than actual superelevation
It is advantageous to study each speed condition similarly to the case of
superelevation raise and improve curves when tracks are reinforced. (Approx. 75 km in
terms of curve length)
(5) Improvement of curve radius
Already-progressed curve improvement of changing sharp curves with a radius of less
than 300 m to those with a radius of 300 m or more (see item 3.4.4) are effective and it
is expected to progress improvement in accordance with the plan up to 2000 in future.
4.3.2 Reinforcement of track
So as to make a high-performance body tilting car effective, the following measures are
necessary for track strength. The study was divided for straight and curved track.
(1) Straight track running.
(a) General track
Form a track structure capable of stable high speed running of the 150 km/h level by
using a lightweight high-performance body tilting car whose bogie
